Together with Stephanie Moll and Sofia Wittmann we designed a book that dissects the Akzidenz Grotesk font. The Akzidenz Grotesk font was published by the H. Berthold AG in 1898. It’s one of the most influential Grotesk fonts of our time and created the foundation for future sans serif types like Helvetica, Folio, Theinhardt, etc.. This historical importance was one of many reasons why we wanted to dissect this font type. But the main reasons for us were the elegance and simplicity which were perfectly captured in this timeless typeface.
